On a Monday there was a cold blue sky at night. When the star's shone bright blue my family and I lit firework's.


 Lifting up their brown hand's, my family pulled out fireworks from a box. Mum was so excited she jumped up with laughter, my sister jumped up too and danced around like a clown. The little children had sparkler's, it was fun to draw our names in the air.

The first firework was colourful, it was red, pink, green and blue, it exploded in the sky, “BOOM”! When that fireworks finished we got the second firework out,  it was could Zombie Dombie. My oldest brother held the long stick while my other brother lit the fireworks. It looked like a sparkling yellow star.


 As I  walked inside my house I heard a loud noise so I ran outside and I saw firework’s  popping out of a bottle. I screamed ‘Arggh’  because I was frightened.

My cousin’s ,Uncle’s and Auntie’s came to join the celebrations. That’s when it was extra, extra, extra, extra, extra, extra fun! My mum said in Samoan’’ok, well now that the children are here we have to give them sparkler’s’. We gave them sparkler’s than the adult’s did the big fireworks.  Soon it was all over and everyone went home. My mum said in Samoan’’ Goodbye’‘ and we went inside to sleep. As I pulled the covers up to my chin I imagined colourful, beautiful, sparking fireworks. I could not wait for next year.

Room Ten's Film Festival Movie

It is that time again...  the Manaiakalani film festival at Sylvia Park!

Room Ten set themselves a challenge this year to try new things with green screen and imovie.
A team of children have worked, problem solved on a regular basis to create the following movie. Our goal was to create an effect where a student (Suli) could be the head of a cartoon character.  Our main character finds himeself in a tricky situation, trapped in a colouring book. Our movie is not perfect, but we learnt a lot and we really enjoyed ourselves making it.

Well done to our actors, Suli, Alice, Lukis and Venetia.
A great job from our animators Waimaria, Adam, Paris, Zack, Adriel, Elizabeth, Toma.
Big thanks to our clever thinkers Dartanian, Taunese, Suli who helped with the problem solving and planned the script.

Fireworks by Waimaria

On Monday I  asked my mum and Robbie if we could have fireworks.  Me, my Mum ,Tanisha went to the shop which had fireworks in it. My mum said we can get it if it was $25. It was and my mum said yes. Then we went home. When we  went home I asked Robbie if we can do fireworks now, but he said no.

Tanisha said "we want fireworks too". When we went to the shop Tanisha  went in the shop to see what was inside. Tansiha said "mum you have to come and see, there is fireworks there as well". She said "lets buy it" . "OK"  said my mum.

When it was night  Robbie said you can do it now ok. My mum said yes we can do it now. I was so happy. I wish we can do it again. It was so so cool. I loved Monday.

Making A Bubble Cone

I dipped my bubble blower into the gray bucket of slimy liquid  and raised my bubble cone  and blew as slow and soft as a turtle . The adventures children of Room ten made a cone inside the sweet smelling classroom on a beautiful sunny day. We  challenged ourselves to have fun and an exciting experience.

We watched the YouTube clip, the clip demonstrated on the projecter what to do. The magical children of Room Ten made bubble cone's and celleotaped inside the of cone. I was successful in creating and making a bubble blower. My bubble cone was shaped like a ice cream cone. I keeped on going by preservered until I got it right.

Dartanian and Paris Meet Ruben Paterson

On Tuesday the 4th of September Dartanian and Paris attended the opening of Ruben Paterson. Dartanian has written abou the night. A movie will be posted soon that both Paris and Dartanian have made about their exciting night.

Miss Burne drove us in a maroon car to the city. Paris and I played a game with Miss Burne as we had to spot the sky tower. Each time we found the sky tower we scored one hundred points. We parked the car and Paris and I walked around the city and took photos of the sky tower.

As we walk into the Gow Langsford Gallery, Paris and I spotted Rueben Paterson.Rueben Paterson was in his  black  tuxedo and a black vest, he looked important. He was surrounded by people talking to him and looking at his amazing artwork.  David the bear was carved in polystyrene, he was huge and when we felt small like mice. There was a painting  of road kill , it was a deer and on its leg there was a Get well balloon. I think Rueben uses the balloon because it was a dead deer. On another wall we saw an art work which was black,white, red  and coved in glitter. Guess what  Paris and I saw this art work on google before we went to the exhibition . My favourite art work was the glittery black puma. We were exited to see Ruben Patterson . When we meet him he was kind to us because he took a photo with me and Paris.

Today Omari read "Skateboard Park". In this book it explained the parts of a skateboard and the different safety gear that a skater needed to wear. Omari created this image on the ipad in Skitch to show that he now understands the what the word deck means in relation to a skateboard.

Heather goes to church

Heather has written this story independently on the ipad about her weekend.

On Sunday my family and I went to church and we were learning all about Jesus and God. Then I saw someone that I see at school all the time! It was Lukis. I was talking to him when everybody was singing the song,I was sneaky.When the song had finished it was time to do the prayer. We closed our eye's and talked to God. When it was finished we all had to go up to the front of the church and we all were singing a church song. It was so much fun singing the song.

Recently Room Ten held their own fear factor to inspire us for writing. Some very brave contestants closed their eyes and took a risk into the unknown and eating the unknown. Sometimes it was delicious, sometimes it was disgusting!

I sunk into the deep muddy mud it was like quick sand pulling me down. My shoe got lost in the mud so I had to look for it. It was the Pt England School cross country at the Pt England Reserve.

We gathered together outside Mr Barks room. Then we met Mr Burt and we walked on the track. Mr Burt told the girls to line up. The nine year olds had to run through the bush walk. I fell down and neally fell in the creek and I was crying but a teacher helped me up.When I fell down I was running so fast I run like a cheetar.

I waited with anticipation for the cross country to start. Finally it was my turn. I got muddy feet and I sunk into the deep, dark mud. The mud ate my feet. I was out of breath and I had to catch my breath.I sped up when I saw the finish line. My heart was beating so fast I had to have a drink. I was puffed.

Amber Writes About Cross Country

Amber writes on the ipad about the school cross country

It was a beautiful sunny day for the cross country race, I looked down at my feet they were covered in mud like cowpat. It felt really sqeashy. It dripped down my legs it felt tickley.

We gathered on the black hard court and waited for the race to begin. I felt excited because I was goning to go as fast as a Lamborghini. When the race began, Mr Jacobsen

Said ''Go" to the 5yr old girls and boys.I saw them run as fast as a Lamborghini.

When I was running I fell over but I got up and started running again to get to the finish line first. I had lots of fun playing in the mud when I was doing cross country. I saw the mud at the finish line I was about to fall over.

When I got to the finish line I saw people watching who comes first.When I got the finish line they were cheering for me and I was so proud they were shouting ''GO YOU CAN DO IT".I was smiling because of them cheering at me.The finish had two cones and a line with mud at the end the mud really looked like cow poo ''EWWW". As I saw the finish line in sight I sped up and the crowd cheered for joy as I dropped down I exhaustion. I fell and caught my breath while I was on the ground. As I cached my breath I saw my Mum at waiting and she said ''Well Done". I came 4th place. I was so exhausted that my Mum gave me a drink.

Paris and Liz work together!

Valarie Adams won a silver medal in shot put and came second place because she stepped out of the circle but Nadzeya Ostapchuk did'nt step out of the circle.

Valarie Adams is 27 years old world champion in the London olympic 3 Times. She had three no throws, but had powerfull throws because of her strong arms, they were always over 20meters.Valarie adams was so sad because she is no longer the world champion in the hole world she was no longer the best.In the next olympic she is going to come first.

We feel sorry for Valarie Adams.

It was Day ten of the olympics and it was announced that Opstachuck had been taking drugs to make her stronger. Nadzeya opstachuck was discalfid. Then Valarie Adams had won a gold medal in shot put.

Mark Todd's fifth olympic medal.

It was the 2012 Olympics games and there were five equestrian horse riders.The five horse riders were show jumping. Mark Todd is 56 year old. His horse name is Campino. Mark Todd is competeing in the New Zealand team. In the past Mark Todd won two gold medals and two bronze. As Mark Todd looked up at score board. He had to bet the time of 83 seconds.He had to do double jumps and triple jumps.He shakes his head in disappointment.It was Mark Todds fith olympic medal. Mark Todd found out he came third place.

Early Monday morning Pt England students went to the chilly school hall. It was immersion assembly and the topic for Term Three was the Olympics.

Team three was my favorite because when Lights  out Lavakula did her powerful punch to Boogaloo Barks and he fell on the stage, he stumbled to his feet and ran away with fear. Did you know,that this year women are allowed to box in the Olympics and that it is held in London?

One Foggy Morning : Colaborative Writing by Liz and Elizabeth

Liz and Elizabeth have worked together on our IPad to write about the weather this morning.

 The glittery sun was breaking through the fog while the shivering seagulls were looking for some food on the icy green grass. I looked out the window and I saw the trees invisible like a ghost it was wet and damp and I saw dark shadows all around me. When I saw walking I breath in and out I saw smoke cameing out of my mouth. If I looked at the sun my eyes was squint it was hard to see the invisible trees in the fog, but at ten oclock the sun came out and finally the fog went away.

On Tuesday my Mum took me to the movies at Sylvia Park to watch Snow White and the Huntsman.When the lights went out I was excited, it was really dark.When the movie came on I asked my Mum for some money so I can buy an ice cream.When I came back I forgot where I was sitting so I had to look for my Mum.When I found her I had to use my manners to get through the people and back to my seat.When I got back to my seat I said "Finally"!

This  artwork  is made by Room Twenty and it was inspired by  Fatu Feu'u.Room 20 has added a lot  of detail in this lovely artwork. Room 20 copied this artwork for the Point England art exabition.Room 20 has been doing this artwork for along time because it is so pretty and beautiful.

This artwork is the best artwork I've seen in the exhibition. The artwork has lot's of feather's and colour, has pretty hearts on it and it has a waka on it.We took this photo because it had a lot of gourgous colours and detail,it made me want to take this wonderful photo . We should sell this lovely artwork for $20 because it is so beautiful.

This artwork is the best artwork I've ever seen in my life I think Room 20 has been working for a really longtime .I think that Room 20 was having a great time making this artwork and they have worked very hard on this lovely beautiful artwork.

Writing Via Our Ipad About Shawn's Artwork

Room Ten have been using our ipads to write. We have been writing using the app Evernote. First we take a picture to inspire us, then we colaborate to write our story, after that we record our story it to hear how it sounds and help us edit. Then we email it to our Teacher to post on our blog. The following description is by Adriel and Omari.

Shawn likes to go around with his dad in his truck. He made this artwork for the school art exhibition.Omari and I thinks that Shawn's art work is fantastic.
The dark colors make me sad like a raining day.The truck looks stormy and dark.The truck looks cool with flames on its trailer. The wheels look like their going to pop from the heat of the red flames.
When I look at the truck it looks like its on fire at the back.The truck of the tree looks like it is on fire. The road looks like stones filled up with cheese.
Omari and I think it is the best in the school art exhibition.We thought this artwork is going in a famous New Zealand art gallery.I was inspired by Shawns truck that he drew.I think that he will be a good artist some day just like Mondrian.I am a big fan of Shawn's work, his art makes me smile all the time I see his work on the wall in the art exhibition.I hope when he grows up he becomes an artist.I hope he has a huge studio to make heaps of art.

Term 3 Begins

Term 3 has began with an amazing Assembly by our talented teachers. Well done Pt England.
Our Inquiry this term will be the 2012 Olympic games. We will be supporting New Zealand 'Going for gold' and learning all about the Olympic games. As always we look forward to sharing our work with all our readers.

Planning Our Artwork For The School Art Exhibition

This time lapse movie shows our planning process for the final display of our artwork for the school art exhibition.

Artwork Inspired By Rueben Paterson

At our visit to the Auckland Art Gallery Room Ten were inspired by the work of Rueben Paterson. We loved his glittered artwork "Whakapapa, get down on your knees" and wanted to make our own version.

In our artwork we have each contributed 8 squares which we liked or felt represented ourselves. We have joined these pieces together with our classmates make to the large work which represents our class, Room Ten.

This week we have been sharing with the class a little about ourselves. After writing our speeches we were asked to present it to the class in a clear and confident manner.

I enjoyed reading your poem because it had lots of clever sentences and I learnt that Tenzing and Edmund Hillary went all the way to the summit of Mt Everest. My Favourite part was when it said the queen has given Sir Ed a medal. I didn’t know you could get a medal for climbing a mountain. Thank you for sharing your work.

We enjoyed your poem because it had lots of detail and we learnt things we did not know before. We didn’t know that Sir Ed climbed the snowy mountains. Our favourite part was when you described the horribly, dangerous mountain.

How to be Cyber Smart and Leave A Positive Comment

As part of our Cyber Smart programme Room Ten have been working on writing an effective comment to people, one that we would be proud of,  that is respectful and positive.

Lately we have been reading the blog posts from our Buddy Class in the South Island,  a year 2 and 3 class at Methven Primary .

We had to used our " How to comment on a blog" card which guides us and helps us write a quality comment and therefore help us leave a positive footprint online.

Adam Makes A Marshmallow Tower

Room Ten have been working together and learning to cooperate. Last week they were asked to work as a team and build the tallest tower they could out of Marshmallows and spaghetti.

Collaborative Writing

Our inquiry this term is The Pt England Way and our value is respect. Room Ten have been taking part in lots of activites which require them to work together well and respect each others ideas and the way each other work. One of these activities was Collaborative Writing where the children needed to work as a team to write a story. They have shared one of the stories below.




A Tiger Shark is hunting for food they can smell your blood from a distance. The Tiger Shark meets a fish and it eat's the fish quickly. As the fish went down the sharks throat it was began to punch the shark . The fish punches the shark so hard that it made a gigantic hole and the fish swam away.

Marshmallow Towers

Room Ten have been learning to work respectfully as a team.

Today in class the children of Room Ten were challenged to built a Marshmallow Tower as a team. They needed to remember to listen respectfully to the ideas of others, share equipment and include each other in the task to make the tallest tower possible that would stand without help.
