Sailing With Captain Cook

For School TV Room 8 have made a movie about Captain Cook and
the sailors on his ship the Endeavour. We had lots of fun making
our movie and we learnt a lot about what life would have been like onboard.

Mighty Mariners

The topic for term 3 is MIGHTY MARINERS.

Our focus is to find out what it takes to be a successful adventurer.

We are looking at mariners such as: Kupe, Abel Tasman, Captain Cook and
Peter Blake.

My Sister Raewen

My sister is 6 years old and her name is Raewen. Her hair is black and her eyes are chocolate brown. She has plaits.

My sister Raewen loves to play with me on the trampoline. She loves to play handstands. Then we jump on the trampoline together.

I feel happy when my sister tells me secrets. When my sister cuddles me I feel special. I feel happy when my sister lets me plays Wii games.

My Baby Sister

My baby sister has straight, soft hair. She is tiny.
She is skinny.

My baby sister is in the hospital because she is sick. My
baby sister makes me happy when she smiles. I like playing
with her. When she holds my hand she loves me.

I feel happy when she smiles back to me. I feel loved when
she holds my hand. I like playing with her.

Wash Your Hands

This week Room 8 had a visit from the Health Nurse who reminded us how important it is for us to wash and dry our hands so we don't spread germs and help stop the flu. Antonia and Maysun helped to demonstrate to Room 8 how you wash and dry your hands in the right way.



REMEMBER TO:
Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds and dry them for 20 seconds, or use an alcohol-based hand rub.

DJ teaches the class about Garage Band

As part of our literacy cycle Room 8 children publish their written work on the class blog so that it can be read and commented on by an audience. This publishing can be done in many different ways, for example typing the story and creating a movie of the story. This week DJ has been learning how she can publish and reflect on her stories by using the programme GarageBand.

DJ has been teaching the rest of Room 8 how to use GarageBand. She has been showing them how to use it to publish their stories and also to use it to practice reading and to listen to how they sound when they read.
